Events
This promises to be a busy summer in Highwood, with many opportunities to get involved with the community through the Highwood Historical Society.
A Day in the Life of Highwood
The Highwood Historical Society's mission is to preserve items that reflect the history of Highwood. Unfortunately, since so many of those historical items are only created on notable occasions, the Historical Society does not get enough opportunities to preserve the richness of ordinary life in Highwood.
Later this summer, the Historical Society will sponsor a Day in the Life of Highwood. The Historical Society will invite residents to submit photos, stories and other media that represent what makes Highwood a great place to live and work every day.
Terrific Tomato Contest
The residents of the city of Highwood have always taken pride in their ability to grow the best flowers, fruits and vegetables. For home gardeners of many backgrounds, the homegrown tomato occupies a special place. This summer the Highwod Historical Society is inviting residents to compete for the best tomato grown in the city of Highwood. At the same time, we welcome stories and photos of growing things in Highwood for publication on our on-line diary of the contest.
Highwood Homes
We are developing and ongoing, virtual "walking tour" of homes in our town.
