
The official last frost day in the Chicago region in May 15. Until then, all bets are off
when it comes to puting delicate things like tomatoes into the ground. In growing
Zone 4, Highwood is well situated for growing tomaotes, but only during a narrow
window in the summer. My family is from Mexico, where the tomato is an important
vegetable (or is it a fruit?). Now, in Highwood, we can still have homegrown tomatoes,
but only during that narrow summer window.
Even though we know that spring and summer are coming, it still feels awfully cold.
