When the wind is just right on the train to Chicago, there is a strong smell of chocolate
that's almost overpowering just north of the Loop.
The smell is from the Blommer Chocolate Factory. Blommer was founded in Chicago
in 1939 and the smell has become a Chicago commuting experience like no other.
The chocolatiers sell there spent cocoa shells to use as mulch. When they're spread
on a garden and the wind is just right, there is an intoxicating smell of chocolate that's
almost overpowering in my Highwood backyard.
Maybe they'll make the tomatoes taste better?
